This story needs more attention: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/the_americas/us-is-denying-passports-to-americans-along-the-border-throwing-their-citizenship-into-question/2018/08/29/1d630e84-a0da-11e8-a3dd-2a1991f075d5_story.html
TLDR: lifelong US citizens with Latinx names who live near the Mexican border are having passports revoked on thin pretexts. Two lessons I see:
1) No-one is safe, not even born citizens.
2) The targeting so far is transparently driven by at least one of direct racism and a fear of demographic change shifting Texas elections.
White US citizens, please use your privilege & make some noise about this.

IMO, celebrities have no business creating accounts on public instances and then trying to establish their brand or "verify their identity".
There's no reason a celebrity can't spin up their own instance at "social.celebrityname.website" (or pay somebody to do it for them) if their brand matters that much to them.
If you're a celebrity, trying to migrate your personal brand onto somebody else's server is a dick move, especially if they run it at their own expense.
Guardian review of Twitter circa 2007:
"Since launching a year ago as a side project by the people behind the podcasting and audio site Odeo, Twitter has gained traction with a large number of Silicon Valley cognoscenti and some of the web's most high-profile names. Critics say it is another pointless distraction in a world already suffering information overload, and wonder how users manage to keep tabs on what they're really up to"

It makes complete sense that a BMW driver would rather pull their car up onto the sidewalk rather than wait 20 seconds for the light to change. Glenoaks and Pacific, Glendale.

HOW TO EXECUTE A MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY:
Step 1. Drive your car onto the on-ramp.
Step 2. Look for gaps in traffic.
Step 3. Take your time finding a gap.
Step 4. Don’t speed up or slow down to line up with a gap. Leave it up to fate.
Step 5. If done correctly, you’ll end up adjacent to another car. Wait patiently until the very last second and then slam on your brakes.
Step 6. Give yourself a bonus for not using your turn-signal.
